How To Hard Boil Eggs In the Oven

Hoppy Easter Weekend!

Where are my vegetarian bunnies at?!
Yesterday I went to an Easter egg dying party at my friend Natalie’s house, so I was in charge of prepping some eggs for decorating. I decided to hard boil them so they could be snacked on even after decorating!

Most of the time I dread hard boiling eggs because I always manage to mess them up. After I finally get the water boiling and then deal with the whole stove on, lid off, stove off, lid on situation… I’ve totally over cooked them. Not to mention they’re so hard to peel!

Well, none of that anymore!!! By hard “boiling” eggs in the oven, there is no more guessing or work involved and you will get the perfect cooked egg that is seriously easy to peel every time. I’m not joking, the shell will slide right off! If you’re thinking of dying some Easter eggs this weekend or want to hard boil eggs for salads and snacks, definitely give this a try. It’s fool proof!

It’s literally a game changer. Just pop the eggs in the oven for 30 minutes, then into a bowl of ice water to cool. That’s it!

How To Hard Boil Eggs In the Oven

What you need:
1 dozen eggs
Muffin tin
Large mixing bowl of ice water

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
2. Place 1 egg in each muffin cup.
3. Bake on middle rack for 30 minutes.
4. Carefully place baked eggs in a large bowl filled with ice water until completely cooled, about 10 minutes. This will stop the cooking process.

*DO A TEST RUN with a couple of eggs until you figure out the perfect cooking temp/time. Some ovens run a little hotter or cooler than normal, so if any of your eggs crack, you can reduce the cooking time by a minute or so.

The Scoopie + Giveaway

I am sooooo excited about this post and giveaway! I’ve said this before, but I love when I get to work with brands from the start and watch then grow! This one in particular is another one of my little babies that I feel very close to. Last year at Natural Products Expo West, I met the CEO and co-founder of The Scoopie, Jarred Allen! When I walked up to his booth at Expo, I was obsessed with this product. In fact, I named it one of my “Top Picks from Expo West 2014” out of over 2,000 exhibitors!

Have you ever tried to transfer protein powder or pre-workout to a water bottle using the plastic scoop that comes with the jar? Yaaaaa, I have – and I cannot tell you how many paper funnels I’ve made as well because the scoop is always wayyyyy too big to pour into the tiny opening of a water bottle! Well, ladies and gentlemen, this genius scoop + funnel invention just solved all of your problems! The Scoopie helps to get powder or liquid into a water bottle or container accurately without mess, hassle or spillage. No more paper funnels! The Scoopie can be used with protein powders, dietary supplements, baby formula, or anything pertaining to the dispensing of liquids or powders.

The Scoopie has a universal sized scoop with an added funnel attachment that was perfectly designed to have a spout smaller than the circumference of a water bottles opening. When using this product, you simply scoop a powdered supplement (pre-workout, baby formula, sweetener, etc..), snap on the attached funnel, flip the scoop over, and pour into a water bottle or small spouted container without the mess of the powder spilling on you. So simple! Just scoop, snap, flip & pour… voila – The Scoopie®!

The-Scoopie-9

Since last year, I’ve used my Scoopie more than most kitchen utensils (it lives in my jar of BCAA for muscle repair and recovery from lots of spin classes), and I’ve kept in touch with my Expo West friend Jarred! When I had first met Jarred, The Scoopie only came in one size, which was 12CC supplement size, and I bugged and bugged him asking when The Scoopie would be made in protein powder size! Well, a few weeks ago, Jarred emailed me and said “I remember promising you the protein/larger sizes so here you go” with a bunch of photos. It’s a dream come true,  60CC and 90CC protein powder sized Scoopies!!! I’m so excited for Jarred and his company, It’s been so fun to watch The Scoopie gain more and more popularity and now come in different sizes! I keep telling Jarred, “you have to get on Shark Tank!” I think Mark Cuban would make a deal on this one! I mean, he does own an NBA team who would definitely use Scoopies!

Cinnamon Raisin Almond Butter + Blendtec Designer 725 Review

When I was contacted to review the new Blendtec Designer 725 blender and Twister Jar, I have to admit I had some slight hesitations and doubts. I had been loyal to my previous blender for years. I baby it, I talk about it as if it’s my child, I hand dry it with only the finest towels, and I think it does an exceptional job. So why make the switch and try a Blendtec? Well, they told me about their new Twister Jar, and it was time to give Blendtec a chance! I also love the brand’s collaborative spirit and desire to work with bloggers, it makes me so happy!

So here it is, in all of it’s shiny sleek glory – The Blendtec Designer 725 (in Gunmetal)!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-5When I first pulled it out of the box I thought to myself. “Where are the buttons? They forgot the buttons! My blendtec is missing all of the buttons and knobs!” But then I plugged it in, and it lit up like a little space ship!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-1The digital touchscreen interface is the coolest thing! Is this what I have been missing out on for years?! The touchscreen allows you to select the speed by sliding your finger along the line at the bottom of the screen, plus it makes cleaning a breeze. During my first blend I quickly learned that there are 100 speeds, yes 100 speeds on this puppy! I slid my finger a little too fast and it went into lift off mode and I thought this thing was going to take off to mars! I cannot believe how much power it has –  I’m so used to generic speeds 1-10!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-2Another reason I had always been hesitant to try Blendtec was because of it’s single blunt safety blade. Blentec’s signature is their single blade which is 80% thicker and 10 times stronger than their competitors blades, and completely safe to clean and use. It seems kind of strange right? One dull blade? I mean, wouldn’t you want multiple sharp blades to chop up and pulverize your produce and ingredients? I am SO SO SO very glad that I gave Belndtec a chance and tried it out, because they have 100% proved me wrong and have completely blown my mind! The single blade pulverized everything in sight!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-3Above is the Blendtec Designer 725 (in Gunmetal) on the right, and the Twister Jar set on the left!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-4The Twister Jar is probably the coolest thing since sliced bread. It comes with the Twister Jar, patented Twister lid (BRILLIANT!!!), Mini Gripper™ lid for containing thinner blends, and the Spectacula (epic!).

For my first recipe with the Blendtec Twister Jar, I decided to make a Cinnamon Raisin Almond Butter!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-6 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-7 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-8 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-9 This is not your average blender. This is a teacher. And during today’s lesson, it taught me when I needed to stir (none of my other blenders did that, they just stopped blending everything), taught me when I needed to add more liquid (say what?!), and gave me congratulatory messages when I succeeded in snack making with virtual praise and high fives on the digital interface!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-10I am OBSESSED with the Twister Jar. I wish that all blenders had this genius little gadget. It’s absolutely brilliant! You know how when you try to make really thick things you have to turn off the blender, scrape down the sides with a spatula, and then turn it back on to continue blending? Well, with the Twister Jar, there is none of that! You put the Twister Lid on and if anything gets stuck to the edges of the jar, you just twist the lid while it’s blending! SO STINKIN’ COOL! I’ve never made any type of nut butter before, and I’m so glad I waited until now to do it myself, because this was the best possible experience ever.
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-11 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-12 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-13The single blade is sooooo easy to clean, and the shape of the Spectacula is just spectacular for getting every last bit of almond butter out of the jar! Another plus about the “dull” blade is that since it’s thicker, it doesn’t cut into your rubber spatulas and ruin them!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-14 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-15 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-16
Cinnamon Raisin Almond Butter

1.5 cups roasted almonds
1/4 + 1 Tbsp raisins
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla

Place the almonds, cinnamon, and vanilla in the Blendtec Twiter Jar. Place Twister Lid on top of jar. Set slider speed to 7. Blend until smooth. Twist the Twister Lid as needed. Remove almond butter from the jar and transfer to a mixing bowl. Fold in raisins. Store in a glass jar with lid in the refrigerator.

Of course after I played with the Twister Jar I had to move onto the big guns and give the big container a test run, so I made a smoothie with my new Cinnamon Raisin Almond Butter!

Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-17 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-18 Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-20I love the “walk away” blending features that allow you to select what you’re making, walk away and do other tasks, and then come back to a perfectly blended smoothie and blender turned off by itself. Blendtec is such a little smarty pants! Plus I love the little messages that it displays after each blend!
Blendtec-725-and-Twister-Jar-Review-Cinnamon-Raisin-Almond-Butter-Recipe-19Check out that power!

ASICS GEL-Kayano 21 Review

This post has been sponsored by ASICS and I have been provided with a complimentary pair of shoes. All opinions are my own.

ASICS recently released the GEL-Kayano 21, which  is the lightest version of the Kayano yet and features the latest in ASICS technical innovation.

I’ve been wearing the Kayano since I ran on my high school’s cross country team in 2005. So when ASICS reached out to me about the release of the Kayano 21, I had to get my hands on them! For such a lightweight shoe, it has excellent cushioning in the mid and forefoot – actually the entire foot! Let’s just say, the 21’s delivers when it comes to cushioning! They’re great for short and long runs, and I didn’t feel any fatigue in my feet or calves or any discomfort in my knees or heels.

They are a responsive shoe and give a little bounce that makes them an absolute pleasure to run in. For me, they fit true to size with a decent amount of width in the toe box so there is no pinching or discomfort.

I wanted to wear these shoes for a full month before posting a review on my blog so that I could give you an honest opinion, and after running in them for a month, they’ve been fantastic. I’ve had zero discomfort and as always with my ASICS, I’m impressed with the quality. The Kayano insoles haven’t compressed down at all, and the outer material stands up well to off pavement running.

I’m really honored and proud that ASICS thought of me to review this shoe. It’s kind of strange, but it made me emotional. I just cannot believe how far my little blog has come sometimes. I’m so grateful for these opportunities that it has given me, and I’m so excited for the many more miles that I will run in these shoes and the memories I will create with them!

I am loving my Onyx/Black/Silver pair for fall, but there are tons of color options for the Womens and Mens Kayano 21s!
