I wanted to start off by saying happy motivation monday, and thank you to all of my new and “old” readers! I have no idea what happened last night, but my website went viral and I got THOUSANDS of views and a rush of emails in my inbox in a matter of minutes! I’m so happy that people like my blog enough to share it with others, it means so much to me!

I went to my friend Behnaz’s house yesterday for craft day and in her refrigerator among piles of healthy fruits & vegetables, was a carrot cake that she had made from scratch the night before. It was just sitting there staring at me with it’s cute decorative frosting carrots perfectly drawn on top. I just couldn’t resist a slice of her amazing cake. After all, it is a vegetable, right? After 5 days of my Juice Challenge, the fast was broken! Never fear, the juicing will continue with “A Juice A Day In May!”

I have a weakness for Behnaz’s cooking. She makes amazing Persian dishes from her family’s recipes and occasionally the most intricate and perfectly decorated cakes. I was worried about how my body would react to solid food after a 5 day liquid diet, but my tummy loved that little slice of heaven, and I’m glad I was able to enjoy it without the guilt of ending my juice challenge.

Later that evening, I sat down with my new Gingergrass & Lemon candle, From A to P juice, and new book Intuitive Eating, by Evelyn Tribole, MS, RD and Elyse Resch, MS, RD, FADA. I have had a few readers suggest this book to me, and have read countless reviews by other bloggers, so I thought it was about time to buy it.

This reminds me so much of my dear family friend Karen. If anyone had a problem or was searching for an answer for anything, she would have the perfect book for it! If Karen could see this blog, I’m sure she would have dropped this book off on my doorstep by now! Intuitive Eating offers a new eating approach to free yourself from food prison to help yourself become at peace with food to reach the weight you were meant to be. I’m not much of a reader, but I have become passionate about healthy living and how food can change our body & health, so this book looks very intriguing to me. I will be reading this book in my free time, and I’ll keep you guys posted on new things that I learn!

Question: Has anyone read Intuitive Eating before?

When my usual snack time came around, I experimented with a new juice to curb my cravings. Not to toot my own horn, but TOOT TOOT! This juice was AMAZING! New favorite for sure, and the color was absolutely gorgeous!

Rainbow Sherbet
serves 1

2 fuji apples
½ lime
¼ pineapple
¼ large cucumber

Extract your fresh juice over ice and enjoy cold.

I have noticed a huge change in my mood since starting my juice challenge, which is a big change from where I was last Monday after returning from San Francisco. I actually feel really happy today, and feel a lot healthier overall. Although I still get cravings for coffee, I feel like I have tons of energy from the micronutrient rich juices. I am thinking about sticking with a few juices throughout the day but want to start incorporating smoothies for a little while since the outcome has been pretty positive!

I absolutely LOVE your blog. Found it last week on pinterest and I have already tried a few of your recipes- so good! I am new to the vegan/whole foods world and love it so far but I fell off track the past 2 days.
I was thinking of doing a little juice cleanse to get me back on track. Would you recommend the juices you used followed with a workout too or no?
Also did you loose any weight while doing your 5day cleanse?
    Thanks for your time =)

Thank you so much, Selena! I love hearing from readers, and learning how they found my blog!
I would not recommend working out while doing a juice cleans because there is not enough protein.
Sometimes it’s easier to stay on track with a whole food cleanse such as the Skinny Bunny Cleanse!
I lost 8 lbs doing the Skinny Bunny whole foods cleanse and 9 with the juice challenge! Note that most of the weight is water weight. They both had similar results and definitely reduced bloat, but I enjoyed chewing my food with Skinny Bunny over drinking only juice and water!

Let me know how it goes!
Don’t give up, today is a new day and you can kickstart your healthy eating right now with your next meal!

Hi! I love reading you blog! I was just wondering when you do the skinny bunny cleanse and lose weight after won’t you just gain it right back when you go back to clean eating? Also, how many days do you do the cleanses?
    Thank you!

Hi Darcie! I do the cleanse for 5 days to lose excess bloat and water weight before an extra special event, or if I get off track and need something to help kickstart healthy eating again. Most of the weight that you lose within the 5 days will be water weight, so if you go back to eating salty things right away it will most likely come back. For some people, seeing a a lower weight on the scale after the cleanse can help keep to keep them motivated to continue staying on track and losing weight! Health & Happiness xo

I usually add protein powder and some sort of water-soluble fiber to my juices… And while that won’t help if you are doing a cleanse, it is good if you just enjoy juices for breakfast as I do! I pick up the Whole Foods soy-based protein powder and that give me enough fuel to get my morning going. I like to use pineapple or pears to sweeten my veggie-ful juices.

That’s a great idea, Grace! I love the texture and thickness of smoothies more than juice, so something I will throw my fresh juice in a blender with 1/2 an avocado and some ice cubes to make it creamy. Protein powder and water-soluble fiber is a great idea, I’ll have to give it a try! That would be a really quick and nutritious breakfast! Health & Happiness xo

I read Intuitive Eating about six years ago- right after I quit smoking…it totally changed my life! I lost 60 lbs and kept it off for three years. (Until I got promoted to a boring sit down job and then most of it came back– your frustration post really spoke to me). I lent it to my sister and she seriously lost over 100 lbs in a year and she’s kept it off!
It’s a wonderful book and it helped me create better habits and not to put so much pressure on myself. I reread it recently and took a lot of comfort in the fact that I didn’t make the same mistakes…just different ones LOL!

I am a newcomer to your blog and have really enjoyed reading it. I love the idea of a simple way to change your lifestyle with the Rabbit Food Pyramid. There isn’t any guessing! I do have a question, particularly regarding juicing. If you have juice for breakfast, but only 1 serving of fruit is allowed for breakfast, how does that work? Can the pyramid be adjusted to allow you to have more than the allotted 6 servings of fruits/veggies per day? Thanks so much and thanks for sharing your story through your blog!

Hi Jenny! Juicing is completely different than my usual routine. I love juices but I generally only drink them if I do a cleanse. Juices are full of vitamins and minerals but also high in sugars in carbohydrates so they don’t fit into the pyramid very well. If I were to make juices, I would probably use it as a meal replacement for breakfast, but I have not tried this combination (for weight loss). I hope this helps! Health & Happiness xo

    Hi there!
First off, great job staying strong for FIVE days with just juices! Woo Hoo! Here is my question for you: how much (generally) does one serving of juice make? 8fl oz? More? I realize that on a juicing “fast” it will help to drink tons of water to help cleans and also keep a “full” feeling, but I was just curious to know how much juice should be consumed per “meal”. Thanks!
