Motivation Monday: “I’m not losing weight, I’m getting rid of it. I have no intention of finding it again.”

Hi little bunnies, I’ve missed you!

I took a much needed week off after a very overwhelming doctors visit. Last week I went to my appointment to go over my lab work results with my doctor. Fortunately I do not have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). Unfortunately I do have hypothyroid. Luckily hypothyroid is something that is easy to regulate with medication, and my doctor is hoping that I will start feeling a little better within 2-3 weeks. I am crossing my fingers on that one. I’m happy that I have finally figured out what is probably the main culprit of my depression, hair loss, weight gain, and lethargy. I’m just hoping and wishing that I will gradually see changes with all of my symptoms after my thyroid gets all leveled out. It’s probably going to take time and more blood tests to get everything regulated perfectly, but I am looking forward to it. I cannot explain how drastically different I feel physically and mentally compared to last fall. I can’t believe that one little gland can cause so many different issues in the body. I just want to feel like myself again!

As I was leaving my doctor’s office, I received a phone call from my dermatologist’s office. The nurse informed me that the biopsy results came back from my second incision (right foot, pinky toe) and that it was abnormal. She scheduled me for another appointment this Thursday for a second biopsy and to talk more about the biopsy results and about possibly scheduling a surgery. Ummm surgery? You’ve got to be kidding me. I hung up the phone and sat in my car crying at a stop sign. I could not imagine having another surgery and once again be set back another couple of weeks with crutches. Oh and not to mention the pain, I was luck I got the best CBD oil for pain. After I got my stitches out from my first surgery, the incision split open and has taken so long to heal. The surgery on my left foot was on August 16th and I can still barely walk. I’m going to my dermatologist on Thursday to learn more about my biopsy results. Since I only talked to the nurse, I have no idea if it’s cancerous or what is going on. All I know is that my poor foot is going to get cut up again! The timing couldn’t be worse as I am going to an out of town wedding next week! I really can’t process all of this right now.

After my cry session, I made a detour to the mall for some retail therapy to hunt for a dress to wear to my friend’s wedding. This dress might be accessorized with some chic bandages and shiny crutches. Stylin’.

While I was at the mall, a parking attendant asked me what happened to my foot. I explained that I had a mole removed from my foot to be biopsied. I think that everyone is surprised when I tell them, because they are expecting a sprained ankle or stubbed toe. He said “good thing you had it removed, Bob Marley died of skin cancer.” I had no clue that was how he died, so of course when I got home I took to the fabulous world wide web to learn more. I stumbled upon a story that Bob Marley died of skin cancer that was found on his toe! Naturally I started freaking out because my bad biopsy came from my toe! Googling “Bob Marley skin cancer” quickly turned into searching WebMD to assess the issue. OMG why do I do these things? WebMD should be illegal! Literally the worst thing you can do. All of the sudden a headache turns into the self-diagnosis of a brain tumor after 1 minute of being on that site. Never a good idea!

Are you guilty of going on WebMD when something is wrong?

In all of the bad news that I received last week, I’m so thankful that my thyroid condition is curable, and that my dermatologist caught my mole sooner than later.
I apologize if I’m a bit MIA this week, I’m just going to say it straight up: I’m having a bad week. Boooo. I really want to start a juice reboot, but I don’t think that is a great idea right now. Maybe when I get my thyroid stuff figured out and am feeling a little better!

My friend tagged me in the most adorable photo on Instagram that I just had to share with you guys.
Oh no big deal, just grocery shopping for some rabbit food for his bunny teeth!

I die over this picture! How freaking cute is that mini shopping cart? I wonder who took this! haha

I’m sorry to hear you going through so much. 🙁 I too am waiting to hear if it’s PCOS or thyroid issues. I have the same symptoms you have. And yes I do the Webmd thing too. Plus I go back and reread my nursing textbooks. Not the best thing to do when one is stressing about their health. I hope you feel better soon.

Awww Catherine. Coming from a huge hypochondriac myself, I have to say this: you’re gonna be *fine!* Bob Marley died because he refused to have any treatment for his cancer. But that’s besides the point because really. You’re gonna be fine. Your dedication to getting checked and catching these things early is going to pay off.

I also want to thank you for educating the blogosphere about the subject of skin cancer. I haven’t spent a ton of time under crazy UV rays thanks to growing up in Alaska, but I’ve had my fair share of burns and I wanted to let you know you’ve inspired me to get my first full-body mole check. I’m calling up a dermatologist tomorrow. Who knows, maybe you’ll have saved a few lives out of this whole thing. <3

Hi girl! I recently stumbled across your blog! You are absolutely beautiful and such an inspiration. I am so sorry to hear about your cancer scares, please stay positive!

Also, I suffered from hypothyroidism for about 2 years and please know it will get better. I gained about 5 pounds with my diagnosis and like you was so frustrated. Know that it does get enter pretty quick and you will feel better! Focus on eating iodine rich foods like kelp and seaweed! They do wonders for the thyroid!!

    Hi Catherine,
I’m so sorry to hear about all of your recent medical problems. I just wanted to let you know that I too was suffering from depression, hair loss, lethargy, and other symptoms and was told that I had hypothyroid. After my diagnosis and medication treatment my doctor continued to run some more tests just to rule anything else out. Well it turned out that I have Celiac Disease (allergy to gluten) which can actually cause hypothyroidism… any many other things! As soon as I started eating gluten free my thyroid worked itself out without medication. I just wanted to let you know about it in case you should ever consider gluten to be the culprit. Although, after following your blog for a few months now it seems as though gluten is not really a big part of your diet. Anyways just thought I’d throw that piece of information out there. Hope you start feeling better soon!

Hi! Just thought I would send you a msg to cheer you up!!! I have hypothyroidism, it was detected after a three year long painful and frustrating journey. I had a complicated miscarriage and major infertility issue, i also suffered from massive weight gain, constant headaches and extreme fatigue. I finally switched doctors (since mine wasnt to concerned with how I was feeling or the infertility) got my thyroid checked and when my numbers came back my new doctor was so shocked at how bad they were she said she wanted to cry for me 🙁 She is a sweetheart! I went on medication and a month later I was pregnant! I was also feeling so much better well until the new pregnancy hormones kicked in! I now have a beautiful baby girl and my thyroid numbers are perfect and holding (with medication) I am smaller now then when I got pregnant and my daughter is only 7 months. Iam happy to say even with feeding my baby in the night I have more energy now than I have had in years! The headaches have decreased significantly, and I over all just feel better! I hope my story gives you hope that you will feel better! I hope everything works out for you! Keep your head up, I know it can feel like your drowning in medical appointments, but the light at the end of the tunnel is in sight now that you have a diagnosis!

I can only relate to the hypothyroid. my husband and I both have that issue. It is frustrating. Hubby had Hypothyroid that turned into Graves Disease then had to have his glands nuked out which then causes hypothyroid. I’ve had hypo all along. The gaining weight sux. You’re on the right track with your diet. We on the other hand have to change our ways of eating and exercise . Keep up with your great outlook in diet! Unfortunately those little pills they have you take is going to be a life long trek but luckily they aren’t horse pills! LOL It is livable! Don’t disrepair. (I always thought the hair loss was due to bad genetics LOL)I’m sorry to hear about your biopsy. I’m hopeful they found it in it’s most early stage and you’ll be fine. Keep your chin up and keep plugging on. You’re a great inspiration to a whole lot of people and I’m sure we allllllllllll pray/hope for the best!

Oh man… I’m sorry you are having a rough week! I, too, am guilty of diagnosing myself through the Internet. I’ve actually had plans lately to freak myself out and diagnose myself with endometriosis. Fortunately homework has been keeping me too busy though. 🙂

I wanted to refer you to a woman who had her hypothyroidism cured through her diet and was able to get off of all of her medications (among curing other ailments). You should definitely read her story. Her story can be found on her website: http://www.vega-licious.com/about-vegan-recipes-nutrition-fitness-reverse-hypothyroidism-naturally/detailed-story/. Hi Catherine, I found your blog about 3 hours ago and have been looking through all of your posts and am so inspired by where you have come from to who you are now. I thought to myself, “Wow, this chick has it all. She’s beautiful, fun, knows what she wants, so how can I be like that when I have PCOS, Hashimotos Disease (which then gives you Hypothyroidism)?” Then I clicked the “Home” page and read yesterday’s post, which I hadn’t seen previously. I’m so honoured to be able to let you know that IT GETS SO MUCH BETTER. Soon enough, you will be joking about how you were before taking the thyroxine (they might call it something else outside of Australia, where I am). You are going to feel amazing. How amazing? Like a normal person again. Anyway, I really wanted to respond to your post, I don’t make a habit of it and it’s actually the first response I’ve written on any blog, I think? A lot of people seem to have thyroid problems, myself included. The meds do help though so hang in there. As for the skin cancer issues, it’s good that it was caught early. Not good that you have to be on crutches some more. I can relate to the crutches because I am on them as well! I had some surgery done and will be on them for about 8 weeks……no fun! Hi, I know exactly how you feel. I was diagnosed with hypothroidism when I was 17. I had the symptoms you describe but was also very depressed. The med’s help so much. you’ll return to normal soon. id really recommend researching an author called Mary Shoman. (think that’s the spelling!) she’s fantastic books about it. My thyroid levels do go up and down but once you get blood tests done regularly you can keep it in check. look after yourself and rest lots, you’ll feel better soon! sending you my love xx

I am so sorry to hear about your health issues. However I am glad to hear that you seem to have caught your hypothyroidism early. You are correct, it is very treatable, work closely with your endocrinologist, and be religious about taking your medications. This is extremely important in relation to your doctor evaluating your dose’s effectiveness and making subsequent adjustments.

In regards to your toe/foot problems. You doing all the right things, most people ignore early warning signs, you sound like you are on top of it. Do not let horror stories freak you out, Bob Marley refused traditional treatments on the basis of religious beliefs, there is no telling what would have happened if he had decided to follow through with the doctor’s recommendations. Also, he was diagnosed in the late 70s, which was over than 40 years ago. Treatments have improved by leaps and bounds since then.

Now this next section is fairly longwinded:

In regards to healing. It is imperative that you are getting the adequate amounts of nutrients required to support the normal healing process. It can be difficult to adjust your diet philosophy, especially when the past adjustments to your diet has had such a profound impact on your quality of life. I read your blog regularly, and I think you are amazing/find your weight loss tips very helpful. However, when you are recovering from any sort of surgery or physical trauma it is important to focus your priorities on supplying your body with the nutrients necessary for the healing process.

Adequate protein intake is an imperative factor in the healing process, and is of even greater concern in people who may limit their animal protein sources. Make a conscious effort to achieve adequate protein intake daily. Your body needs the amino acids for repair, and as you know many plant sources do not provide the complete amino acid profile, rice and beans (together) or quinoa would be good choices to ensure you are getting all of them.

Generally, vitamins A, C, & E as well as Zinc play a major role in healing. However in certain conditions there have been exceptions to this rule (certain conditions may be exacerbated by these nutrients) . Talk to your provider about making sure you are getting the correct vitamins in your diet. If you are unable to do this naturally, supplements can be helpful, but natural sources are more easily utilized by the body. Also, vitamin A & E are oil soluble vitamins, which means that any excess is stored in the liver, and thus can be very dangerous in high quantities (Zinc can also have negative effects at super high doses). It is important to note that even adding a regular supplement to a multivitamin could cause a person to reach toxic levels of oil soluble nutrients, so be especially careful if you choose to rely on supplements for these vitamins.

Talk to your MD/NP about this, ask for a referral for a nutritionist (this is a completely reasonable request, especially considering your history of your wound reopening, seriously this is a well known factor in healing problems ). I have no question that you are incredibly knowledgable regarding nutrition in general, but nutrition as a supplemental treatment of disease is a complex science, and may require additional bloodwork.

I mean no disrespect, but since you sound upset, and I do have a background in medicine, I thought I would offer my advice. I hope I was helpful. However, since I do not know the exact details of your case, you should really talk to your personal provider before making any diet adjustments based what I have said. I would stress this especially in regard to vitamin/zinc supplements, as these can have serious consequences. Feel free to email me if anything I said was unclear.

ugh, i am SO bad at looking at Web MD! i am actually a lot better about it now but about one year ago, i was living in italy for the summer to study. in late july most of my friends had gone home so i spent a lot of time alone studying for my final exams. one day i stumbled upon the description for breast cancer symptoms and felt my own breasts… and they had all kinds of these ‘lumps’ that i was supposed to be worried about! i was sure i had breast cancer, and then after reading about skin cancer, i was sure i had that, and ovarian cancer, and basically everything else in the world. it caused so much anxiety… i ended up getting a bunch of check-ups when i went home and everything was fine (whew) but it still causes me anxiety when i feel a random ache or notice anything that seems a little out of the ordinary. sooo long story short stay away from those sites! they cause more anxiety than good most of the time and the only person who can really speak to your health is your doctor (which sucks because it’s a pain to schedule appointments, it’s scary, and it’s expensive, but only they know for sure).

whew! rant over. that felt good. haha. love your blog by the way!!

I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times over, but you will be fine. I can tell by reading your “About Me” section, past posts, and what you’ve said here about your health issues that you are a strong, resilient young woman, and that alone will carry you through it.

As for that well-meaning but misguided parking attendant, ignore him/her. Bob Marley was a Rastafarian who took a passive approach to his condition and refused to have his toe amputated. While I can’t comment on the wisdom of his decision, I can say that you are lucky that it was detected in the early stages, and that you still have an opportunity to do something about it. I’m not the praying type, but I wish you well, and promise to visit more often!

Girl, 80 – 90 percent of Hypothyroid diagnosis are actually HASHIMOTO’s Autoimmune disease which most regular doctors are totally not up to date on. Make sure that they test you for that, and there are TWO tests! Just simple blood tests. If you do have hashi’s, try to find a naturopathic physician or integrative doctor that DEALS with hashimoto’s. I just went through the hell you are talking about and wasted A LOT of time and money on doctors until I find an ND who started treating my Hashi’s. You should be entirely GRAIN FREE and at the very least GLUTEN FREE if you are hypothyroid or have hashi’s. And I REALLY hurt myself (before I knew that I had hashi’s) by going on a raw vegan diet. After I found out the diagnosis, went GRAIN FREE and started following a Paleo Autoimmune diet, I feel WORLDS better! I was trying to heal myself on a raw vegan diet because I knew that I was ill but no doctors could figure it out for a long time. Foods like broccoli and kale are cruciferious and actually can MAKE you hypothyroid when eaten RAW!! So here I was juicing every day and eating raw green smoothies daily with tons of kale & spinach and I was getting sicker and sicker which was SO frustrating. I thought that I was just cleansing. But no. When I got to an ND doctor I found out that I was in poor shape with Hashimoto’s, very low vitamin levels, food allergies (I kept thinking that I was getting food poisoning) and a super bad adrenal problem. With Hashi’s usually your vitamin levels of B12, Iron, and D are awfully low, MAKE SURE that you request to get those levels checked at your docs too. I pray that you read this and I save you all of the hassle, anxiety, and stress of what I went through. And join the facebook group called STOP THE THYROID MADNESS! There are thousands of people in this group that will help you, this is where I got so much help. Also the faccebook page called Thyroid Sexy is ran by a women that used to be on Bay Watch and is a good place to find more info too. Grain free/Paleo/Sugar free is GREAT for Cancer too. I know, I used to LIVE off of fruit, and this transition was SO hard to Paleo because I used to hate meat. But I’m telling you, I feel good for the first time in years. Good luck hun.

Hey pretty lady! I was in your shoes a little over a year ago when my thyroid pretty much quit over night. It’s so good to know that something is the reason for all of the sympotoms and that we aren’t crazy! Keep your head up and stay strong though this time. The thyroid is a tricky little booger. Mine is finally under control after a year of playing with different dossages of medicine. Listen to your body and don’t ignore it if symptoms come back. XOXO

Hi Catherine! Sorry to hear about all your health concerns. I hope things get better for you!

I was wondering if I am confused or if you removed the side bar that divides your recipes by lunch, dinner, snack, raw, vegan, etc? I can’t seem to find it anymore and it was useful for browsing your recipes!!

My 8 yo son had a funky mole on his head.. atypical melanoma “severely aggressive” they tell me over the phone.. he was 8!! I was in hysterics.. they removed more skin around the area.. two years later.. freckles appear where the scar was.. guess what?? it grew back.. another surgery.. and now..

I am 99% sure this funky, multi colored odd shaped freckle/mole on my thigh is skin cancer too.. I go in Oct to have it looked at..

Point is.. I did the whole web MD thing too.. I was convinced I needed to do a fresh juice fast to cleanse my innards.. though I didn’t follow through bc I’m a junk food lover..

But yeah.. not a good idea!! sigh..

    PS Good luck =(

Wow, so much to deal with! I can empathize with you as I have had many thyroid symptoms and lots of radiation to my thyroid as a little child, it was ‘state of the art’ at that time. (you know…doctors practicing!) As a result, I have been told it’s not “if” but “when” I get thyroid cancer…I’m not buying that but I do go to UCI campus Endocrine Clinic for periodic biopsies just to keep checking. I grew up on So Cal beaches so have had numerous skin cancers removed and know many who have had the same and more serious than mine.
The BEST news? At the Angeles Clinic connected to St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, a friend was saved by a clinical trial for certain melanoma treatment. It is not chemo but rather an immuno therapy. His oncologists had told him to get his affairs in order and they had exhausted all possible treatments. Never take no for an answer! He is now back at work as an airline pilot and has been on many medical report shows and TV shows sharing his experiences. Another friend is now receiving the same protocol for his very invasive and prolific melanoma, at UCI in Orange, and he is greatly improved. Check it out if your biopsies are less than stellar. (Found you through Pinterest…love that bunny food!) Do you know the books “Crazy, Sexy Cancer…by Chris Kerr”? Big Hugs, Chris

Have you considered Celiac’s Disease? I’ve learned that hypothyroid (which I have) is linked with that. It causes about 250 other possible issues in your body if you do have it and leave it untreated. It’s extremely under diagnosed by doctor’s because the only way to treat it is through diet. 1 in every 133 American’s have it in some form. Just some food for thought.

I’m so sorry to hear about your week! I wanted to comment and tell you that you are NOT alone in the hypothyroidism boat. It is something I have been struggling with since I was 4 years old. You will feel better soon and you will reach a functioning normal. I have also taken that same Glucose tolerance test multiple times before. That stuff is the reason I don’t like artificial orange flavor! YUCK!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your story! I started following your blog when I began my eating clean regiment and am now happily continuing to eat a healthy plant based diet. Feel better soon!

I just discovered your blog…and I’m so glad I did. I, too, have a love/hate relationship with my skin. My mother had melanoma, and every mole I have removed falls into the “abnormal” category. Sometimes I feel like a ticking time bomb for skin cancer. In the end, being proactive about my health is all I can do. I can’t spend my life worrying about what may or may not happen. Thank you for sharing your journey. Chin up.

    Catherine,
I was diagnosed with malignant melanoma when i was 21 (I am 23 years old now) and have had eight surgeries removing cancerous tissue scattered throughout my body (scalp, thigh, hip, back, shoulder, etc.). Don’t feel discouraged with surgeries, think of them as a positive because they are removing what could be harmful to your body. Every time I heard the diagnosis that I needed to have yet ANOTHER surgery, I would always have a good cry session, mentally calculate how long it would take me to recover, and then started the mental fight session needed for the recovery process. What I learned from all of this was that the surgeries and skin cancer itself did not define who I was or what I was capable of doing in my life, I was just forced to find a new way to accomplish routine tasks. With that said, good luck with your surgeries, I know they can be difficult! You are always stronger than you believe – God doesn’t give you anything you cannot handle.

Don’t worry it only makes you stronger.

I have one word for you. WHEELCHAIR!!! After months on crutches with ankle surgery and a couple screws latter I could not take the back, arm and wrist pain any more.

It was the best idea ever, my arms got so buff it was crazy. Plus I started loosing weight
because of the extreem endurance cardio. Other perks us girls look super cute in wheelchairs, you can actually cary things, everyone opens doors for you and pushes you uphills. It’s a win win. 🙂

Remember life is what you make it and what you choose to focus on. When I’m down I look

    Hi Catherine!

Here’s a big HI and a Get Well Soon from India! I have a serious medical condition myself, since 2009 and somehow, neglected my body and over-ate and now at 23 years old, I am at my fattest best ( And when I say fat, I mean actually fat. Not like those skinny girls going, “OMG I”M SO FAT”). But when I found your blog, a little spark flamed up and now steadily it’s turning into a raging fire that wants all the fat to melt away.

I have tried dieting several times, and have never been able to stick with it. My family is vegetarian by ancestry and it’s really hard to get/do a “diet” that is vegetarian, consistent and not one of those fancy “crash diets”

Your story and your blog are a fantastic inspiration to me. And all your recipes seem do-able, even though some of the foods you recommend are not available where I live (Kale, Raspberries, Quinoa). I’m starting your 5 day Skinny Bunny Cleanse today, with a hope that inspired by you, and with continued efforts of diet and exercise, I will lose weight.

I don’t even know you, and I can tell you, from halfway around the world, that you are awesome.

    Speedy Recovery.
    Love,
    V

I never read blogs, and for some reason I randomly came across yours, and I’m so glad I did! I have hypothyroidism too, and trust me, as soon as its regulated it, it won’t be a big deal :).

I actually have a question for you or anyone else. I’m 23 also, and at my heaviest I weighed 202 pounds. That was in mid-May, and now I’m down to 160, but I’ve been stuck at 160 since the end of June! I’ve tried changing up my diet, tried exercising more, and still nothing. I know I lost those first 42 pounds fast and I don’t expect the rest to go as fast, but I have no clue what else to try. I’m not expecting to ever get down to as little as you, but I want to lose at least 20 more pounds more than anything. Do you have any advice?

My mother has had the same thyroid issue for about 30 years and though it is a lot of bloodwork, I know she was really happy once she finally found out what had been going on. Alright of course I don’t know you but you’re an important person because you are encouraging for so many who struggle with health and I hope health and happiness finds you. Best wishes,

I went through surgery on my ankle to remove a mole and had similar issues about having it heal. On WebMD (oddly enough), I found this article about vitamin C and it’s ability to speed wound repair. I started taking the mix of vitamins noted, and finally started to heal after three months of infection and not healing. You can also take most of it in a vitamin called InflammEnz, and add more vitamin C. I did this again after knee surgery, and healed in 1/2 the time other people took to heal.
    Good Luck!!

My mom had oral cancer surgery twice and the wound would not heal. The solution was hyperbaric chamber. Healed quickly after hyperbaric treatments. Dr. qwrote a prescription for it and voila…it was done. It is available in larger hospitals or medical centers.
By the way, it was MY suggestion after I had done research. The ‘head’ of head and neck surgery at UCLA said “…sure, that might work.” and it did!

I worked at a dermatology lab where we processed the biopsies for exam by our pathologist. There are MANY different kinds of skin cancer. Just because they say it’s abnormal doesn’t necessarily mean the worst. Sometimes they have to do deeper incisions simply to make sure that all the abnormal cells are removed.

Is there a reason you are not blogging anymore? How are you feeling? I have had your blog pinned on Pinterest for awhile now and just started using your awesome nutrition tips to help prepare my body for my upcoming half marathon (only a half… I am taking it slow!).
I hope you are doing well and begin blogging again soon! 🙂

I couldn’t find another way to contact you. It has been awhile since I last visited your blog and I see that it has been awhile for you too. I hope that everything is going better for you and just wanted to let you know that you are a really big inspiration for me. I have been trying to lose weight and get healthy but am not interested in fad diets and am much more inspired by whole foods plant based diets. So thank you for showing us that it is possible and sharing your experiences with us.

I just saw your thyroid post-my mom has hypothyroidism and was sick as a dog when she first got diagnosed. Someone told her about this vitamin barley green (now called barley life) and that it had helped a lot of people with their symptoms of hypothyroidism. She figured it was worth a try, and it has been the only thing that has ever worked for her. Shes been on it for about 10 years and going strong. Its all natural, I think its made mostly of barley plant and kelp. I’ve also taken it for years, I feel a huge difference when I do. If you still struggle with it, its worth a try! Its cheaper if you buy it in bulk, so worth the money. Hope this helps =)

i am sorry to hear of your thyroid diagnosis and the issue with your foot. i also have hypothyroidism and had a terrible bout with it last year. i want to encourage you that though it may take a few months to get the meds right, when they do, you will feel like a million bucks! 🙂 how are you doing so far? i know this post was a few weeks old. (I came across your site thru a page i follow on Facebook. So cute! I’m so glad I found it! Great recipes and ideas!)

I just found your blog and am really enjoying it. I know you are worried about the biopsy because I went through the same thing. When I was 28, I had a mole on my little toe removed and biopsied and it was found to be an early stage melanoma. They removed as much as they needed to until the bad cells were gone and then did a skin graft. I am now 56 and although I have always kept a watchful eye on all of my skin, I have never had any other problems with the area that was affected. Good luck and try not to worry. Your healthy eating habits have got to help with any health issue. Keep up the good work.

You are very inspiring. : )
